The Oregon Chapter of AFCC aspires to include leadership from all of the diverse judicial districts throughout Oregon, to the extent feasible.

The mission of the parent organization AFCC is as follows: AFCC is an interdisciplinary, international association of professionals dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through the resolution of family conflict. AFCC promotes a collaborative approach to serving the needs of children among those who work in and with family law systems, encouraging education, research and innovation and identifying best practices. Its membership includes judges, lawyers, mediators, evaluators, mental health professionals, academics, researchers, court administrators and public policy makers.

To further its mission and serve its members, AFCC:

1)    Creates forums and networks that enable professionals to share information, ideas and experiences, identify trends and shape constructive change

2)    Provides continuing education through conferences and workshops

3)    When appropriate, advocates for innovation and change in the court and legal systems called upon to serve children and families in conflict

4)    Publishes the Family Court Review and other regular bulletins

5)    Identifies and disseminates standards of practice and model strategies

6)    Disseminates research

7)    Supports a network of state and provincial chapters aligned with the mission and goals of AFCC

8)    Collaborates with other organizations to achieve its goals
